Messagemind™: We enhance organizational and individual performance by providing intelligent software that learns users’ priorities and mines collective social intelligence buried within enterprise communications.

History, Vision, Focus & Direction

Idea to Reality

What started as an R&D project within a successful New York City based IT services firm, has evolved into Messagemind, Inc. - a fast growing technology company that helps global enterprise and government clients manage information overload and solve business intelligence problems utilizing its patented software and proven best practices.

Messagemind’s roots serving enterprise and government customers allowed us to recognize the need and see opportunity for improving personal productivity and capitalizing on collective knowledge, relationships and collaborative analytics buried within enterprise communications.

Messagemind was spun-out as an independent company in 2007.

Messagemind’s passionate team of researchers, architects, senior engineers, programmers and analysts have been working closely with a number of leading global organizations in a broad range of industries, creating and perfecting successful technologies that are now solving these critical business challenges.

Transforming Business Communications

Each day we are helping executives, knowledge workers and other professionals break through the clutter of overloaded inboxes to focus on what’s most important. Soon business users & executives will view all their digital communications, both business and personal, whether generated within or outside the company, through the lens of Dynamic Prioritization.

Messagemind’s dynamic knowledge mapping and collaboration analytics products are enabling business users and executives to harvest relevant and collective expertise buried in unstructured electronic communications and collaboration activity both within and outside enterprise boundaries - helping them to make better management decisions.

Three key business challenges drove our company’s innovation, efforts:

  • 80%, or more, of traffic to a user’s inbox (email, calendar invites, feeds, alerts, social updates, tweets, etc…) is considered un-important and therefore, does not require immediate attention.

Could we develop a technology that would learn both the user’s and company’s fast changing priorities enabling them to identify, organize, and take action on the 20% of communications that are important, and do not require immediate attention?

  • 85%, or more, of a company’s knowledge and relationships are buried in email and other unstructured communications both within and outside enterprise boundaries.

Could we develop a technology that would enable companies to monetize this intelligence, allowing them to discover who knows what and who knows whom while meeting individual privacy and company policies?

  • 75% or more of workforce time is spent working with electronic communication & collaboration tools including email, IM, documents, voice, RSS, feeds, wikis, Twitter® and blogs.

Could we develop a technology that would learn from this collective clicking behavior and social intelligence allowing our clients to map business processes, improve management decision-making and generate predictive analysis on their customers, products, and markets, thus making our clients more competitive?

Yes we could – and we have.

C-Mail Dynamic Prioritization™: Inbox Prioritization and Workflow

We began by developing C-Mail, a Dynamic Prioritization engine that parses each email into sub-units performing hundreds of complex calculations, analyzing priorities from many perspectives - topic, sender, other recipients, content, context, keywords and relationships. This analysis is then compared with users’ and companys’ prioritization patterns and captured in a set of mathematical algorithms that learn priorities by following collective clicking behavior, looking at email history and optional company business rules.

By leveraging the latest advancements in server in-memory and multi-threaded processing technologies, the prioritization engine intelligently learns individual priorities along with group and company patterns, and within milliseconds, ranks each email on a scale of Very High, High, Medium, Low and Someday priority.

It then automatically and dynamically delivers a unique view and hierarchy of users’ prioritized email. In a short period of time, generally within 1-3 weeks, it accurately learns users’ priorities. When end users open their email items that are of highest priority appear in order of importance, making it easier to focus and work on those items first. Dynamic Prioritization combined with intuitive workflow features, significantly shorten time to action and enable users to respond immediately to tasks that need to get done first. The prioritization technology goes beyond email and prioritizes other types of electronic communications including meetings and calendar invites, alerts, feeds, phone and fax messages as well as social network updates generated within or outside enterprise boundaries.

OPEN: Knowledge and Relationship Mapping

While developing C-Mail, we gained insights into the challenges of finding and extracting valuable business intelligence buried, not only within organizational Inboxes, but also the growing ecosystem of digital communications and collaboration tools. Clients needed a way to locate expertise to help solve critical and complex problems, discover colleagues that could facilitate relationships and monetize outcomes to increase company value.

Messagemind’s OPEN product, utilizes algorithms that work in the background, automatically learning from user interaction and accurately mapping knowledge and relationship networks without the necessity of proactive user input. This contrasts with traditional social network mapping tools that depend on significant user intervention in the form of constant updating, tagging, filling out forms and adding colleagues to their networks.

Our technology platform has been broadened to analyze and mine intelligence from a wide variety of electronic communication and collaboration sources such as:

  • email
  • address books
  • calendars
  • tasks
  • instant messaging
  • voice/video conferencing
  • documents (SharePoint, etc...)
  • CRM (Salesforce.com, etc...)
  • LDAP
  • employee directories
  • blogs, RSS
  • external social networks

Our Dynamic Prioritization technology is now available on a wide variety of mobile platforms as well as Windows-based PC environments. Although we started with large enterprises that prefer on-premise and private cloud installations, we built our technology with multi-tenant cloud-computing in mind and will be soon launching secure solutions for small businesses and individual customers.

AVATAR/PRISM: Business Intelligence and Analytics

AVATAR and PRISM are advanced business intelligence platforms. We developed these to enable executives, team leaders and individuals to extract business intelligence as well as measure communications and collaborative performance to enhance decision-making. The technology works in the background, automatically capturing user email activity and workflow behavior analytics. These platforms provide real-time search, dynamic analysis on keywords (products, issues), clients (companies, people) and teams (individual, group or department).

Qualitative and quantitative analytics, dashboards, reporting & alerting capabilities along with customizable widgets and open data warehouse architecture with standard API’s make Messagemind’s platform a leading choice for enterprises and government customers.

Today, Messagemind’s growing list of customers include global 2000 enterprises as well as local and national government agencies - each building competitive businesses and high-performance workplaces with a focus on preserving work/life balance.
